ZAGREB, June 10 (Hina) - On June 8, 1999, Croatian Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ivan Djurkic adopted a decision on a temporary ban on the import of live animals, animal produce and animal feed from Belgium, the Netherlands and
France, as well as on putting out of force all decisions concerning imports from the above-mentioned countries. According to the Ministry's Veterinary Administration, the decision was adopted due to the established contamination with dioxin of fowl meat and eggs, pork and beef, and other animal products from Belgium, France and the Netherlands, produced between January 15 and June 1, and in line with decisions of the European Commission. The ban was imposed with the aim of protecting the health of people and animals, read a statement signed by Assistant Agriculture Minister Mate Brstilo.(hina) rml
