ZAGREB, June 20 (Hina) - An eminent Croatian painter, Oton Gliha, died in Zagreb on Saturday evening. Gliha, born in the Slovene town of Crnomelj in 1914, received a degree at the Academy in Zagreb in 1938. He improved his skills in
Paris and Italy. In his early phase, Gliha painted portraits and still lifes. Later he was oriented toward realist landscapes and the spirit of Cezannesque construction of paintings could be noticed in his work. Gliha made many works for public facilities. He painted curtains of the Croatian National Theatre "Ivan Zajc" in the seaport of Rijeka in 1981. He put his works on shows in Zagreb, Rijeka, Opatija, Zadar Sarajevo, Belgrade, Ohrid, Turin, Milan, Genoa, and Sao Paolo. He participated in biennials in Venice in 1962 and 1964.(hina) ms
