BJELOVAR AREA BJELOVAR, June 12 (Hina) - A storm whipped Bjelovar-Bilogora County (50 kilometres east of Zagreb) after 04.00 pm Friday doing damage to roads and houses. In the area, 40 litres of rain fell per square metre in only 20
minutes. A wind was blowing from 23 to 27 metres per second, a county spokeswoman, Zvjezdana Galkowski, said. Power transmission lines were also damaged during the rainstorm, whereas fallen trees blocked streets in the town of Bjelovar. Teams of firefighters and policemen immediately began to help citizens and assess damage on the ground. It cannot still be estimated exactly how much damage was caused by the storm but County Prefect Marijan Coner declared Bjelovar-Bilogora County disaster area.
