INVESTIGATING JUDGE DIDN'T RULE THAT SEPAROVIC REMAINED IN DETENTION

ZAGREB, June 10 (Hina) - After he had been interrogated in the Zagreb County Court Investigative Centre, the former head of the Croatian Information Service (HIS), Miroslav Separovic, was released around midnight on Wednesday. The investigating judge did not rule that he remained in detention. Separovic told reporters that he was satisfied because "this was the only possible court ruling" and "there were no elements speaking in favour of my detention". The record of the investigation proceedings will be forwarded to the State Attorney's Office, which will assess whether "some other actions" would be required, Separovic said. He reiterated that even though he had been brought in connection with an article published in the June 2 issue of the "Nacional" weekly on the rigging of the soccer championship, the police "did not even press charges for that in the end".
