LONDON, June 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Embassy in London on Tuesday
afternoon said a meeting between the foreign ministers of Croatia
and Great Britain will be a little late because British Foreign
Minister Cook is still in Koeln attending a sitting of G8 group
countries' foreign ministers.
Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic should meet Cook and state
secretary at the British Foreign Office Tony Lloyd.
According to Foreign Office spokesman Nick Allen, talks should
focus on a solution to the Kosovo crisis, a stability pact for
south-eastern Europe, and the implementation of the Dayton peace
agreement in Bosnia.
Allen said Great Britain fully supported the stability pact idea
and would contribute to giving the motion real contents, especially
in three areas.
These are the creation of an open trade area in which the European
Union would open its markets to countries in the Balkans, a
reconstruction plan for the Balkans on which civic society would be
based and developed and which would help strengthen democratic
institutions, and special agreements for south-eastern Europe
aimed at stepping up local countries' integration with European
institutions.
The Foreign Office spokesman said journalists will not be able to
put questions to British officials after their talks with Granic.
