ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Government will let the State
Attorney's Office consider independently charges pressed by
Miroslav Kutle against Croatian Premier and the Croatian National
Bank Governor Marko Skreb as well as decide on grounds of all
relevant elements, Premier Zlatko Matesa said during the question
time at the beginning of the 30th session of the Croatian National
Parliament (Sabor) House of Counties.
Asked by Zarko Katic of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS)
what the Government intended to do in the case of Kutle's charges
against Matesa and Skreb and his insistance on being awarded
damages, Premier Matesa answered that he had been notified of the
charges.
The Government and Premier are representatives of the executive
authority, they propose and enforce laws passed by the Sabor, and
are responsible before the President of Croatia and the Sabor. "It
is the place where the state policy is discussed," Matesa
explained.
He stressed that the economic macroeconomic policy is not pointed
against anybody nor is it in favour of anybody, but it should be the
same for all. It depends on the structure of people, managers, how
they will get on. In the same environment are all economic subjects,
Pliva, Podravka, other companies and Globus Group, Matesa added.
We will not influence it (the State Attorney's Office), as it is the
principle of tripartition of authority, and we fully trust the
Office as they understand what the problem is, Matesa said.
Slavko Kokovic of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) asked whether
Kutle's charges would speed up or make slower the return of the
money "drained out" of the Croatian economy and tracked down on the
Virgin Islands and similar places.
If you have tracked down the "drained" money, when can we expect its
return in Croatia and the arrest of those who drained the money
away, Kokovic insisted.
I have said everything in the answer to the first question, and you
have said the rest, Matesa replied.
