ZAGREB ZAGREB, June 3 (Hina) - Delegations of the interior ministries of Croatia and Hungary met in Zagreb on Thursday to discuss the situation in the region in the light of the Yugoslav crisis and ways to improve cooperation in
police performance. According to a statement from the Croatian Interior Ministry, the delegations were headed by Croatia's Interior Minister Ivan Penic and Hungarian counterpart Sandor Pinter. The delegations agreed that Croatia and Hungary, as Yugoslavia's neighbours, have the "responsibility to establish lasting peace in these regions" as part of a wider stability programme for Europe. Also "discussed was the necessity of preparing a higher number of bilateral agreements which will help in the establishment of better communications and cooperation in all areas of political activity." Croatia and Hungary met in Zagreb on Thursday to discuss the
situation in the region in the light of the Yugoslav crisis and ways
to improve cooperation in police performance.
According to a statement from the Croatian Interior Ministry, the
delegations were headed by Croatia's Interior Minister Ivan Penic
and Hungarian counterpart Sandor Pinter.
The delegations agreed that Croatia and Hungary, as Yugoslavia's

Also "discussed was the necessity of preparing a higher number of
bilateral agreements which will help in the establishment of better
communications and cooperation in all areas of political
activity."
The two interior ministers in particular pointed to the importance
of a new border crossing, Beremend-Baranjsko Petrovo Selo, which
will be opened soon.
"It was concluded in an atmosphere of trust and excellent
cooperation that both countries face similar problems, which will
be successfully solved through open, joint cooperation between the
two ministries," the statement concluded.
