ZAGREB, May 18 (Hina) - Croatia's "Koncar Electric Locomotives" (ELLOK) company on Tuesday delivered to "Bulgarian State Railways" (BDZ) the first of two locomotives it contracted to modernise for US$ one million. The ELLOK and the
BDZ in April 1999 signed a contract on the modernisation of Co'-Co' electric locomotives manufactured in Romania. Given that the BDZ has 44 such locomotives, today's delivery might lead to a larger venture and contracts with other manufacturers, especially from Bulgaria, said Darinko Bago, head of administration at "Koncar Power Industry". Completed work on an old locomotive is 25 percent of the price of a new one, Bago said, adding his company was also considering opening a joint Croatian-Bulgarian company, based in Sofia, which would primarily deal in locomotives.
