ZAGREB, May 5 (Hina) - With criticism from Opposition benches, the Croatian National Sabor's House of Counties on Wednesday supported amendments to the Law on the State Judicial Council (DSV). The Government's motion, according to
which candidates for the office of the Croatian Supreme Court President would be proposed by the House of Counties, was met with harsh criticism. Representatives of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) assessed the motion as unconstitutional, because the jurisdiction of the Upper House has been clearly established by the Constitution and cannot be additionally granted or taken away by a law.
