LJUBLJANA, May 4 (Hina) - Trade between Croatia and Slovenia continues to fall, a joint committee of the two countries' chambers of commerce said on Tuesday. In the first two months of 1999, trade decreased by about 10 per cent in
relation to the same period in 1998. Reasons for that are insolvency and lower competitiveness of Croatian goods on the Slovene market, where products from the Central European Free Trade Agreement's (CEFTA) member-countries are in a more favourable position due to the constant reduction of custom tariffs, as well as poorly exploited import quotas for agricultural products, particularly with Slovene importers. Slovenia believes another obstacle to improving trade with Croatia is the fact that their property-rights agreement has not gone into force yet. Also, Slovenia and Croatia have not yet concluded some agreements which are significant for their economic cooperation,

of commerce said on Tuesday.

in relation to the same period in 1998. Reasons for that are

Slovenia believes another obstacle to improving trade with Croatia
is the fact that their property-rights agreement has not gone into
force yet. Also, Slovenia and Croatia have not yet concluded some
agreements which are significant for their economic cooperation,
such as the agreement on avoiding double taxation.
