'OPPOSITION SIX' ADJUSTS VIEWS ON ELECTORAL MODEL

ZAGREB, Apr 23 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) on Friday said representatives of a Croatian six opposition party group had adjusted views regarding the electoral model, a list for the diaspora, and minorities' representation in parliament. HSS's Zlatko Tomcic did not want to elaborate on details. The Opposition Six, which includes the HSS, the Social Democratic Party, the Croatian Social Liberal Party, the Liberal Party, the Istrian Democratic Assembly, and the Croatian People's Party, held a closed meeting on Friday ahead of a resumption of negotiations between the opposition and the ruling Croatian Democratic Union on Monday. With the other side's tolerance, it is possible to agree on the matter, he said, adding if there was no agreement, the Opposition Six expects negotiations will continue even after the Monday talks. Given Croatia's "potentially new position" in the international community, Tomcic said the Opposition Six would take part at meetings of Council of Europe and Interparliamentary Union standing bodies. He added however this did not refer to any ad hoc international delegations and meetings. (hina) ha
