VIENNA VIENNA, Apr 20 (Hina) - The tourist offer of Croatia's northern Adriatic peninsula Istria and its economic possibilities were presented at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in Vienna on Tuesday. The presentation was accompanied
by an exhibition called "Magical Istria". Austrian and Croatian representatives agreed it was necessary to further develop the two countries' ample possibilities of cooperation. Speaking about Croatian economy and economic relations with Austria, a minister at the Croatian Embassy in Vienna, Slavko Begic, said economic cooperation was at an enviable level, but pointed to the insufficiently used possibilities for promotion in the infrastructure, tourism, the power industry, and other fields. Presented were possibilities of investment in Istrian tourism,
while guests from Croatia and employees of the Croatian Embassy in
Vienna answered Austrian businessmen's questions about the
negative effects of the Kosovo crisis on Croatia. It was concluded
tourism would suffer the most.
The "Magical Istria" exhibition, which displays 200 items from the
stone age to contemporary painting presenting the history of
Istrian art and culture, was opened by the Croatian Ambassador to
the UNESCO, Vesna Girardi Jurkic, and Austria's representative at
the European Parliament, Hanns Svoboda.
