ZAGREB, April 16 (Hina) - The average monthly salary amounted to 2,946 kuna (420 dollars) in January and was by 0.5 percent lower than in December 1998, but 14 percent higher than in January last year, according to figures released by
the Croatian Statistical Office. The biggest average salary - 4,164 kuna (659 dollars) - was earned by people involved in financial transactions, and rose by 2.7 percent in comparison to December.
