the 21st logistic base of the US Army in Europe, General Charles
Mahan, in Rijeka on Thursday.
At a ceremony held in Rijeka to mark the successful completion of
the second operation of the rotation of equipment, conducted from
23 February to 31 March this year, Gen. Mahan and a representative
of the Rijeka Port, Mile Sikavica, signed a contract on the usage of

The U.S. General thanked the Croatian Government, local
authorities and all economic subjects that had taken part in the
past two operations and offered overall support in the transport of
U.S. equipment and personnel from and to Bosnia-Herzegovina via the
seaport of Rijeka and airport of Krk (north Croatian Adriatic
coast).
Tomislav Vidosevic, the head of the Government's office for
cooperation with the OSCE (Organisation for Security and
Cooperation in Europe) said his country had been a good host and
reliable co-operative partner to different international missions
during the beginning of the Homeland War and afterwards.
Croatia will be open for operations similar to these two ones
conducted by US SFOR troops via Rijeka and in this sense we shall
offer all available assistance to local authorities, Vidosevic
said.
The chief-of-staff of the Croatian military police, General Mate
Lausic, said the units under his command used the cooperation with
American troops as a chance for gaining fresh knowledge, and voiced
satisfaction with the fact that SFOR operations via Rijeka were
proceeding with the maximum security.
General Charles Mahan handed diplomas of gratitude to authorities,
institutions and economic subjects as well as individuals who
contributed to the successful completion of logistic operations of
US army carried out via Rijeka and Krk.
