RAILWAYS WORKERS SAY THEY WILL STOP TRAFFIC TWO HOURS WEDNESDAY

ZAGREB, April 6 (Hina) - Croatian railway unions announced they would stop traffic for two hours on Wednesday, protecting for the Croatian Railways (HZ) management not wishing to hold talks on an increase in salaries and daily fees. Railway workers will stop all traffic, except for the use of the Croatian army, between 10.00 and 12.00 hours Wednesday. Unions are asking for a 17.5 per cent increase in salaries from April 1, and daily fees from US$18.6 to 24.3. The strike was announced by the five largest HZ unions. Unions leaders will hold talks with the HZ management on Tuesday about their demands, as the management did invite them for talks just ahead of the press conference on Tuesday. (hina) lml jn
