ZAGREB, March 29 (Hina) - US Ambassador to Croatia William Montgomery conveyed a message, first verbally and then in writing, by US President Bill Clinton to Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, concerning NATO's military operation in
Yugoslavia, the US Embassy in Zagreb reported on Monday. In response to numerous inquiries by the press, the US Embassy issued a statement saying on Wednesday, March 23, US Ambassador Montgomery conveyed through Croatia's Foreign Minister Mate Granic a verbal message by President Clinton for Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman, regarding events which, at the time, were happening on the territory of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It was more appropriate to convey the message verbally than to wait for the document to arrive from Washington.
