OSIJEK, March 2 (Hina) - A written statement of a witness, Matija Skvorc, who could not come to the court due to a serious illness, was read on Tuesday during the trial of the so-called "Sodolovci Group" in Osijek, eastern Croatia.
Members of the group - Pero Klickovic, Zeljko Keskenovic, Goran Vusurovic, Vujo Halavanja and Marinko Stankovic - have been accused of war crimes against civilians. Their indictment alleges that they participated in cannon attacks against the town of Djakovo and a few villages in eastern Slavonia between July 1991 and May 1992 In his written testimony of 8 July 1998, the witness Skvorc said he had lived in the village of Sodolovci until February 1992 when Serbs expelled 23 Croats from Sodolovci and Koprivna.
