ZAGREB, Feb 23 (Hina) - The Croatian National Bank (HNB) Council on Tuesday appointed a temporary trustee for Croatia Bank d.d. to ensure supervision of the earmarked liquidity credit the HNB decided to loan the bank for stabilising
its business. HNB executive director for central banking operations, Adolf Matejka, was appointed the bank's temporary trustee. He will take over the tasks of Croatia Bank's management and supervisory boards, the HNB said on Tuesday. According to information to date, Croatia Bank is facing serious illiquidity problems, but is not insolvent. Due to this, the HNB Council deems it necessary to assist the bank in overcoming the difficulties. The temporary trustee has been appointed for six months at the most, and inspectors have been sent to carry out a control of the bank.
