BUDAPEST, Feb 5 (Hina) - The Hungarian Government decided to
establish a foundation for war-ravaged Croatia's municipalities
and villages populated by the Hungarian minority.
The Government will earmark more than 1.5 million marks (200
million forints) from the budget to the Fund, the Government's
spokesman, Gabor Borokai, said on Thursday.
This amount can cover costs for the reconstruction of either two
churches and a cultural institution or of a school.
The Government called on companies and affluent people to provide
the Foundation with financial means, Borokai added.
The Hungarian news agency, MTI, reported on Thursday that a non-
governmental organisation had decided to establish a foundation
for the renovation of war-affected Croatian villages and towns
where the Hungarian minority lives. Minorities' self-governments
from Nyiregyhaz made this decision, and local self-government of
German, Polish, Armenian, Gypsy and Slovakian minorities had
contributed each 50,000 forints.
The president of the German minority's self-government, Tibor
Kornherr, said they had called on other minorities' self-
governments to raise the funds for this purpose.
