office Mirko Pupovac had taken part in war crimes. In a statement issued in Vukovar, the joint council said such claims were untrue and calculated attempts to disqualify Pupovac. The statement comes in the wake of claims made on January 29 by members of the Croatian Returnees Association's Administrative Board and president Mate Simic. They claimed the existence of evidence that Pupovac took part in war crimes during the Serbian aggression on eastern Croatia and his criminal activities during occupation.
