ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - The "Tisak" distribution company on Thursday began paying back its debts to Croatian publishers, proportionate to debt ratios. This makes the first significant step in solving the difficult position of the
newspaper industry, Tisak's management said. Tisak's public relations consultant Aljosa Roksandic said in a statement issued Thursday that the company's account had been unfrozen Wednesday, following which all the day's money influx of about US$690,000 had been distributed among the publishers. After a number of recent talks with Croatian Prime Minister Zlatko Matesa, Tisak's financial rehabilitation was agreed. Tisak must reach an agreement with all contractors about the take over of the company ownership, in line with the ratio of current debts, while the remainder of debts will be reprogrammed.
