NEW ORGANISATION OF DEFENCE MINISTRY AND ARMED FORCES PRESENTED

ZAGREB, Jan 27 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Defence Minister Kresimir Cosic and Croatian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Admiral Davorin Domazet on Wednesday presented the new organisation of the Croatian Defence Ministry (MORH) and the Croatian Armed Forces' Main Headquarters to foreign military attaches accredited in Croatia. The MORH representatives said the results of Wednesday's presentation, held without the presence of reporters, would be announced at an upcoming press conference. Cosic said that the work on the new organisation started in late 1995, after war operations ended. During the process, which involved about 100 experts, foreign military experts were also consulted. He said after the reorganisation was drafted, Croatian President Franjo Tudjman signed the new organisation in late 1997, which had been gradually implemented. "The reorganisation was not to affect regular duties of the Ministry and the Main Headquarters, we almost had two systems in the transitional period", Cosic said. "In 1999 several new departments will open, such as the Programming Department, and one of its main tasks will be to implement a new system of long standing planning and budget control", Cosic stressed.
