LIVNO, Jan 23 (Hina) - The International Police Task Force (IPTF) in Bosnia-Herzegovina is worried that a new Croatian police check-point has been set up in the border village of Licka Kaldrma (150 km south of Zagreb), a larger part
of which is in Croatia and a small part is in Bosnia, an IPTF spokesman said in Livno on Friday. According to the spokesman Allun Roberts, the problem has arisen since the check-point serves for controlling road traffic for the hamlet of Tiskovac where 19 Serbs returned from Yugoslavia (Serbia/Montenegro). LIVNO, Jan 23 (Hina) - The International Police Task Force (IPTF) in
Bosnia-Herzegovina is worried that a new Croatian police check-
point has been set up in the border village of Licka Kaldrma (150 km
south of Zagreb), a larger part of which is in Croatia and a small
part is in Bosnia, an IPTF spokesman said in Livno on Friday.
According to the spokesman Allun Roberts, the problem has arisen
since the check-point serves for controlling road traffic for the
hamlet of Tiskovac where 19 Serbs returned from Yugoslavia
(Serbia/Montenegro).
He told a news conference that the returnees had previously
possessed Bosnian documents, as Tiskovac is located in Bosnia, but
Croatian policemen at the check-point now ask them to show
documents issued in Croatia.
Roberts speculated that the police check-point had most probably
been established to prevent villagers from returning to Tiskovac.
The IPTF and the NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR) informed the
competent authorities in Sarajevo of the latest developments on the
inter-state border (southern Croatia/western Bosnia). They
forwarded reports and now expect the speedy solution from them,
Roberts added.
The inter-state border demarcation commissions should work on a
solution to the problem as fast as possible in order to prevent
incidents on this border crossing, Roberts warned.
