BUCAN:I DID NOT AIR SHOW'1+1'BECAUSE IT CALLED ON VIOLENCE AND LYNCH

ZAGREB, Jan 19 (Hina) - The editor-in-chief of the Croatian Radio Television (HRT) on Tuesday told Hina that the reason he did not allow the broadcasting of a political show called '1+1' was that a participant of the magazine called on hanging politicians. Due to non-airing the show on Monday evening, the Croatian Journalists' Association held a protest, and said such actions of the HRT were a drastic example of censorship. A member of the Croatian National Sabor, Marin Jurjevic of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Tuesday left the shooting of "Press Club" in a protest for "implementing censorship". "As the editor-in-chief of the HRT I could not allow myself to be responsible for calling on violence and lynch, and which editors of the programme failed to notice and remove from one of the broadcasts", Bucan said. Commenting on a statement by the HRT assistant director, Mirko Galic, that he "would not easily accept non-airing the show", particularly not without his knowledge, Bucan told Hina Galic had no formal responsibilities for the programme.
