ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - The Croatian Supreme Court on 30 December
last year rejected an appeal lodged by Nada Esperanza Tambic de
Bilanovic Sakic, indicted for war crimes committed against
civilian population in Croatia during World War II.
Sakic appealed against the Zagreb County Court decision of December
18 to extend her pre-trial detention.
On December 30, the Supreme Court decided that the appeal was
unfounded and that the decision of the court of first instance was
correct as well as that all legal preconditions for detention had
been met.
The Supreme Court believes that Sakic's extended detention is
justified given the severity of the incriminating act and the way in
which it was committed as well as other aggravating circumstances.
