THE HAGUE, Dec 13 (Hina) - Graham Blewitt, the deputy chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Wednesday confirmed that the Croatian authorities knew the names of persons against whom the
Hague-based Tribunal was conducting investigations for crimes they had allegedly committed during the 1995 "Storm" operation. Blewitt told a regular press conference that names which had recently appeared in the Croatian media mostly matched with the names in prosecution's investigating acts. Asked whether the Prosecutor's Office had ever informed Croatian authorities or anybody else in Croatia about the persons who were the target of those probes relating to the "Storm", Blewitt answered they had notified and told names. Respecting the practice of the prosecutor's office, Blewitt declined to reveal the names. We are disappointed that the names have been made public (
THE HAGUE, Dec 13 (Hina) - Graham Blewitt, the deputy chief
prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for former
Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Wednesday confirmed that the Croatian
authorities knew the names of persons against whom the Hague-based
Tribunal was conducting investigations for crimes they had
allegedly committed during the 1995 "Storm" operation.
Blewitt told a regular press conference that names which had
recently appeared in the Croatian media mostly matched with the
names in prosecution's investigating acts.
Asked whether the Prosecutor's Office had ever informed Croatian
authorities or anybody else in Croatia about the persons who were
the target of those probes relating to the "Storm", Blewitt
answered they had notified and told names.
Respecting the practice of the prosecutor's office, Blewitt
declined to reveal the names.
We are disappointed that the names have been made public (in the
media) and in this case Croatia has not acted in good faith, he
said.
In recent months Croatian media have speculated with names of a few
generals who may be potential indictees of the ICTY.
