VARAZDIN, Dec 6 (Hina) - Croatian police on Wednesday apprehended Slovene Simon Eberl, 30, at the border crossing with Slovenia. An international warrant for his arrest had been issued. The Slovene was taken before the magistrate in
Varazdin and was given detention to await extradition to the Slovene police. Varazdin police spokesman Drazen Katanjek refused to give any comments on what charges were facing the Slovene citizen. Thursday's issue of the Jutarnji list daily writes, however, that Eberl was the biggest and best known organiser of people smuggling in Slovenia. He was arrested based on an international warrant issued by Italy for people smuggling and other criminal acts, the paper writes.(hina) lml
