VUKOVAR VUKOVAR, Dec 6 (Hina) - Representatives of the parliament's House of Counties on Wednesday visited the eastern town of Vukovar, wishing to convey a message to its residents that they are not alone in their efforts to return to
the town and rebuild it, House of Counties speaker Katica Ivanisevic told reporters. "This is not just a visit to Vukovar, today we pay tribute to victims who fell for Vukovar and to this town, which was Croatia's rampart of defence," Ivanisevic said, adding the deputies also wanted to become acquainted with the economic and political situation in Vukovar-Srijem County as well as with the ways to help it cope with problems. The deputies met with Prefect Petar Cobankovic and Mayor Vladimir Stengl and visited an exhibition called "Vucedol Orion - The Oldest European Calendar." They also laid wreaths and lit candles at a cross near the Danube River, at the Cemetery of Croatian Soldiers and the Ovcara mass grave. (h
