WASHINGTON, Nov 28 (Hina) - Croatia's credit rating has been
enhanced according to the latest report made by the US Exim Bank on
this matter.
According to its economic results, Croatia has deserved to be
admitted in the fourth group of risks, the Exim Bank's report
read.#L#
Until the end of 1999 Croatia was ranked in the sixth group and at
the beginning of 2000 it moved into the fifth group. For three
consecutive years Croatia has been moving upward on the credit
rating list of the Exim Bank. For the sake of comparison,
neighbouring Slovenia and Hungary are placed in the second group.
Croatia's progress means that smaller collateral would be
necessary to give to US capital intended to be invested in the
Croatian market. This entails more investments and more favourable
loans.
Every year this US bank conducts a thorough analysis of all economic
data and indicators of the countries in the world and this analysis
is used for drawing up report on a country's credit rating and loan
guarantees the bank gives to American investors.
The fact that Croatia was moved in a lower-risk group means that
macroeconomic indicators deserve the support and that Exim Bank
experts have a favourable opinion on economic trends in Croatia.
This U.S. bank offers short-term, medium-term and long-term loans
to the public and private sector in our country.
Last week Exim and Zagreb signed an agreement on understanding and
thus the Croatian capital became the 30th city in the world for
which this bank directly issues loan guarantees.
Until this year the United States was the biggest investor in
Croatia with investing one billion dollars. Germany rose to the
first place after the privatisation of the Croatian
Telecommunications.
