ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - The head of the central headquarters for the
protection of the Homeland Defence War's dignity, Mirko Condic,
announced at about 02.00 pm Friday that a rally staged in protest of
the arrival of Yugoslav President at today's Zagreb Summit ended
officially.
Addressing protesters at the Marshal Tito Square in the downtown
Zagreb, Condic told them they could join another protest, set for
03.00 at the nearby square ('Cvjetni Trg'), which the Croatian
Association of Trade Unions (HUS) would organise.
Condic added that he would give his opinion on the Summit and his
protest on Saturday when he would hold a news conference.
During today's protest he said "We are against the arrival of the
President of Yugoslavia, which has done so much evil to the Croatian
people and we are against those who give Yugoslavia billions in
advance, which is for Croatia unthinkable."
Condic claimed that the incumbent Croatian authorities "are
deluding the hungry people, lying them about the progress which the
Zagreb Summit will bring."
Condic believes that the Summit poses a threat about isolating and
forcing Croatia to cooperate in the region.
"Do not return us where we do not want to go. Don't coldly and
bureaucratically equalise both the victim and the aggressor, but
force the aggressor to apologise to the victim and pay war damages,"
Condic appealed on European statesmen.
He assessed that the 'Schengen frontier' clearly marked the
boundary about which Europe regarded as the Balkans.
We do not want Balkan contracts, but we are in favour the individual
cooperation with Europe," Condic said.
