ICTY APPROVES TRIAL OF SERB WAR CRIMES SUSPECTS IN MOSTAR

MOSTAR MOSTAR, Nov 23 (Hina) - A court in Mostar, southern Bosnia-Herzegovina, has been granted the approval of the Hague war crimes tribunal for former Yugoslavia to try three Serbs accused of war crimes committed against Croats in the Mostar neighbourhood of Radoc eight years ago, the head of the Mostar Canton Court Council, Mladen Jurisic, told Hina on Thursday. Jurisic explained that the indictees were members of the former Yugoslav army (JNA), who are at large, and it was possible they would be tried in absence. According to Jurisic, the court has received another file charging seven Serbs with crimes against Croats in the Stolac municipality. He said the Hague tribunal did not have sufficient evidence against the seven suspects and had therefore returned the case to the Herzegovina-Neretva cantonal court to gather new evidence. Jurisic also said the trial of a group of 21 Bosniaks charged with war crimes committed
