ZAGREB SUMMIT ARRIVE ON THURSDAY ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - The Zagreb Summit, the biggest political meeting ever held in Croatia, will on Friday gather 25 highest delegations from European Union countries and the region, of whom most
will arrive in the Croatian capital on Thursday. Attending the Zagreb Summit will be 15 heads of state and government of EU member-countries, the highest delegations of countries covered by the Agreement on Stabilisation and Association - Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Albania and Yugoslavia, and a Slovene representative. meeting ever held in Croatia, will on Friday gather 25 highest
delegations from European Union countries and the region, of whom
most will arrive in the Croatian capital on Thursday.
Attending the Zagreb Summit will be 15 heads of state and government
of EU member-countries, the highest delegations of countries
covered by the Agreement on Stabilisation and Association -
Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Albania and Yugoslavia,
and a Slovene representative.
Participating will also be European Commission's representatives -
President Romano Prodi, the Commissioner for foreign relations,
Chris Patten, the High Representative for foreign policy and
security, Javier Solana, and three international representatives -
High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina Wolfgang Petritsch,
Kosovo Civil Administrator Bernard Kouchner, and the Special
Coordinator for the Stability Pact for South-East Europe, Bodo
Hombach.
Croatia's delegation will be headed by President Stipe Mesic, and
include Prime Minister Ivica Racan, Foreign Minister Tonino
Picula, European Integration Minister Ivan Jakovcic, Deputy
Foreign Minister Vesna Cvjetkovic-Kurelec, and Assistant Foreign
Minister Vladimir Drobnjak.
The summit will confirm the individual approach to the EU but the
final declaration will also emphasise the need for regional
cooperation.
During the one-day meeting, Croatia will sign a document on the
start of negotiations on a Stabilisation and Association
Agreement, and Croatian officials will meet European leaders and
regional officials.
