IT WOULD BE 'APPROPRIATE' IF KOSTUNICA APOLOGISED TO CROATS

ZAGREB, Nov 20 (Hina) - A Croatian official said on Monday it would be "appropriate" if Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica apologised to the people of Croatia during the Nov. 24 Zagreb Summit. Asked if Croatia expected an apology from Yugoslavia's new president during his as yet unconfirmed attendance at the Summit, Assistant Foreign Minister Vladimir Drobnjak said "it would be appropriate if he did so." Drobnjak said recent media reports, however, indicated Kostunica would not apologise to Croats for crimes committed during last decade's Greater Serbia aggression. "He will certainly have enough chances to do so and I can only say we shall pay very close attention to his speech at the Summit," Drobnjak said.(hina) ha jn
