ZAGREB, Nov 9 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday held talks with delegations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Croatian National Bank (HNB). After the talks, head of the IMF mission Hans Flickenschild
told reporters he informed Mesic of IMF standpoints on Croatia's current economic policy. We agreed that we have similar standpoints on the current economic situation, as well as on Croatia's prospects and problems, Flickenschild said. He said he would hold talks with representatives of the Croatian Government and expressed hope the talks could end by tomorrow when a press conference could be expected. The IMF official said he and Mesic tackled three most important issues: the adjustment of the fiscal policy, the necessity to curb the increase of wages and the need for the reconstruction of the economy.(hina) it
