CROATIAN FIRST DEPUTY PREMIER ON VISIT TO BRITAIN

ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - The relations between Great Britain and Croatia are exceptionally good and the two countries are furthering their ties in an increasing number of activities, Croatia's First Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic and his British hosts concluded during their talks in London on Wednesday. During the first day of his visit to London, Granic held meetings with the state council parliamentary secretary, Paddy Tipping, British minister in charge of international development, Clare Short and a parliamentary group in charge of Croatia, led by Earl of Dundee. At the cordial talks the British officials reiterated their support to the bids the Croatian Government was investing in all fields, and offered their help particularly in the transfer of knowledge and the construction of institutions. British parliamentarians backed Croatia's efforts aimed at its admission into the European Union. Granic was present at a part of the British Parliament's session when MPs forwarded questions to Premier and discussed the state budget. On Thursday Goran Granic is to meet Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, Defence Secretary Geoffrey Hoon and other top officials. Granic will return in Zagreb from London on Sunday. (hina) jn ms
