Two cars of independent Montenegrin newspaper set on fire

PODGORICA, July 14 (Hina) - Two official vehicles of the independent Montenegrin daily "Vijesti", parked in front of the Montenegrin national security agency's building in the centre of Podgorica, were set on fire in the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

According to a report issued by the daily on Thursday, the arson attack occurred at 0300 am Thursday when unidentified perpetrators poured gasoline over the two vehicles, bearing the logo of the Vijesti daily, and set them on fire.

The police and firefighters rapidly responded and put the blaze out but the cars were destroyed.

According to an on-scene police investigation, the incident was qualified as an arson attack with an intention to destroy the vehicles.

The paper's editor in chief, Mihailo Jovovic, expressed hope the police would identify both the perpetrators and masterminds of this crime.
