Pavosevic was apprehended on the orders of the national anti-corruption office USKOK, her lawyer Veljko Miljevic confirmed. Miljevic, however, did not know what exactly Pavosevic was accused of. He assumed that Pavosevic's arrest was connected with an investigation into former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and former customs chief Mladen Barisic.
The HDZ stated that it resolutely supported the independence of the state prosecutorial authorities, investigators and courts in activities in the ongoing clamp-down on corruption and organised crime.
The party's financial activities are fully transparent, as confirmed by the posting of a financial statement on the HDZ web site, it added.
