ZAGREB CAN DRINK 5,250 LITRES OF WATER EVERY SECOND ZAGREB, Oct 22 (Hina) - Croatia's capital can use no more than 5,250 litres of water per second. The water supplies system covers about 800 square kilometres and provides about
860,000 citizens with water. The net of the water pipelines is long 1,930 kilometres, and its capacity is 5,250 litres per second, or 430,000 square metres per day . In the past there were 54 waterworks wells, but now the water is being taken from 31 wells, namely eight water management districts. In ten years, the drinking water will have to be ensured for about 1.5 million inhabitants in Zagreb. Therefore an appeal is issued to current users to save and protect water resources as the drinking water is likely to become more valuable than oil.(hina) ms
