ZAGREB, Oct 11 (Hina) - Croatia's export over this year's first eight months totalled $2.85 billion, an increase of three percent as against the same period the year before, the State Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday. Import in
the same period reached $4.97 billion, only 0.4 percent more than in the first eight months of 1999 Export continues to cover import with a low 57.2 percent. The trade deficit in this year's first eight months is 2.9 percent lower than last year, a high $2.1 billion. The increase in export, 20.4 percent, was achieved in the exchange of goods with the European Union, to whose market 56.7 percent of the entire export is targeted - more than $1.6 billion.(hina) ha jn
