ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - Croatia's armed forces are on regular alert, which is not higher than usual, Defence Minister Jozo Rados said on Thursday when asked if the armed forces were on heightened alert due to violent demonstrations in
neighbouring Yugoslavia.

ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - Croatia's armed forces are on regular alert,
which is not higher than usual, Defence Minister Jozo Rados said on
Thursday when asked if the armed forces were on heightened alert due
to violent demonstrations in neighbouring Yugoslavia.#L#
He said it was tragic for every people when tanks were taken to the
streets to settle civil issues, and added that all issues should be
resolved through political means.
Asked if there had been contacts with NATO in connection with the
situation in Yugoslavia, the defence minister answered in the
negative. "Contacts were somewhat livelier at the ministry," he
said.
Rados added the armed forces would not be put on heightened alert
until news from the ground showed it was necessary.
