ZAGREB, Sept 27 (Hina) - The Croatian national parliament's House of Counties on Wednesday endorsed amendments to the criminal law, in line with which drug possession for personal use would be treated as violation and no longer as a
crime. The standpoint of the Government, who motioned the bill, is that this would not mean the legalisation of drugs, but only the discontinuation of the current court processes, in which mostly addicts are prosecuted and not the actual dealers. Amendments to the law include harsher penalties for sexual harassment, especially when it comes to children and adolescents. in line with which drug possession for personal use would be treated
as violation and no longer as a crime.
The standpoint of the Government, who motioned the bill, is that
this would not mean the legalisation of drugs, but only the
discontinuation of the current court processes, in which mostly

The Upper house gave its consent that the Government be given the

The Upper House requested that the Government reconsider its
decision and continue the payment of pensions to Croatian citizens,
displaced persons from Bosnia-Herzegovina who gained their rights
to pension and health insurance in the neighbouring country.
The House of Counties demanded the Government to sign international
agreements with neighbouring states, which would regulate the
payment of pensions.
