CROATIAN DELEGATION HOLDS TALKS WITH IMF REPRESENTATIVE

ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - A Croatian delegation, headed by vice Prime Minister Slavko Linic, on Tuesday in Prague held talks with deputy general director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Stanley Fisher. Fisher expressed great interest in Croatia's projection of a three- year state budget, particularly in measures the government is to take in order to ensure the implementation of the budget. The IMF official pointed to the need for the maintaining of the fiscal stability. The Croatian delegation and Fisher held talks Tuesday morning, immediately ahead of the opening of an annual session of the World Bank and the IMF. Fisher said the IMF, whose mission is to start in Croatia in late October, advises that the most difficult moves of the structural adjustment be taken as soon as possible because a delay could cause greater problems in the future, spokeswoman of the Croatian Finance Ministry Sanja Mardjetko Kurcic said Tuesday. Besides Minister Linic, the Croatian delegation also includes Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac, deputy governor of the Croatian National Bank Boris Vujcic, deputy Finance Minister Damir Kustrak and their associates. Last night in Prague, the delegation held a presentation for interested foreign investors in the organisation of Merrill Lynch.
