ZAGREB, Sept 24 (Hina) - "Any statement which may imply the division of the guilt is wrong, as Croatia was indisputably a victim of the aggression and it has no reason to apologise to Serbs," Croatian national parliament's head,
Zlatko Tomcic, said on Sunday prior to his departure to Ukraine. Asked to comment on some statements of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic published in his interview with the Novi-Sad daily 'Vojvodina', Sabor Speaker Tomcic answered that he did not want to comment on the concrete statement by President Mesic as "I do not know how it appeared originally, but my stand of principle is that all statements that can cast some doubt on what has happened in the Republic of Croatia since 1991 and which may imply the division of guilt are totally incorrect." ZAGREB, Sept 24 (Hina) - "Any statement which may imply the division
of the guilt is wrong, as Croatia was indisputably a victim of the
aggression and it has no reason to apologise to Serbs," Croatian
national parliament's head, Zlatko Tomcic, said on Sunday prior to
his departure to Ukraine.
Asked to comment on some statements of Croatian President Stjepan
Mesic published in his interview with the Novi-Sad daily
'Vojvodina', Sabor Speaker Tomcic answered that he did not want to
comment on the concrete statement by President Mesic as "I do not
know how it appeared originally, but my stand of principle is that
all statements that can cast some doubt on what has happened in the
Republic of Croatia since 1991 and which may imply the division of
guilt are totally incorrect."
It is a very well known fact, from which I certainly will never
depart, that "the aggression was launched against the Republic of
Croatia and that Croatia was the victim of the aggression," Tomcic
added.
He reiterated that this was no response to President Mesic as he did
not know Mesic's original statement.
Asked to comment on the recent statement of the Croatian Bishops'
Conference (HBK) on the current developments in the country, Tomcic
said he regarded the Catholic Church as the leading moral authority
and that he expected from the HBK a message in that sense.
He assessed that the purpose of the HBK lengthy statement was to
bring some kind of peace between THE conflicting parties, the sides
that had different opinions and comments on the latest events.
I, however, cannot help feeling that this time, apart from this
positive intention of calming down the situation in the country,
Bishops perhaps made a step further and were imprecise in their
statements to a certain extent, Tomcic said before he left for
Ukraine where he should pay a three-day visit.
