ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - Croatian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff General Petar Stipetic on Friday held talks with a Polish military delegation, headed by the Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff, Henryk Szumski, as part of regular bilateral
talks. The meeting focused on military cooperation and Croatia's efforts to join the NATO. "We spoke about the possible cooperation between our two armed forces' concerning our membership in the Partnership for Peace Programme and NATO," Stipetic said, stressing Poland's "thorny path" towards full membership in NATO presented a valuable experience for Croatia. Szumski pointed out the necessity of solving the problem of staff and communications". During talks on cooperation, the two generals accentuated the importance of education personnel and agreements on joint peace actions. The Polish delegation informed the Croatian side about

and, according to General Stipetic, "this is also the way for our
armed forces".
The two sides "exchanged views regarding the development of the
situation in the Balkans and possible implications of what could
occur in this environment," Stipetic told reporters after the
talks.
"We must follow elections and the development of events in Serbia
with great attention and weariness, "Stipetic said.
He thanked his Polish colleagues for the role Polish troops had
played as part of the UN Protection Forces and UNCRO during the
Homeland War.
