The indictment charges Kutle with instigating the other accused to
the criminal acts of abuse of power and document forgery which
damaged Tisak for some 47 million kuna ($5.5 million).
Tisak is Croatia's largest press distributor which last year fell
into major debt to publishers, bringing into question the
publishing of the daily press.
Kutle was arrested in February on suspicion that, even though he did
not hold the controlling interest in Tisak, he instigated the
former members of the company's management to grant other companies
in Kutle's Globus Holding corporation loans for which instruments
of collection of outstanding debts had not been ensured. Kutle has
been in detention since February.
Following a six-month investigation in which 47 witnesses were
interviewed and financial records examined, the Zagreb Municipal
State Prosecutor's Office in July pressed charges against Kutle and
another 12. The indictment in 11 counts charges Kutle as
instigator, and the others as perpetrators or accessories in the
said crimes.
