ZAGREB, Sept 11 (Hina) - Both Croatia and the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) believe that the
Stability Pact is an optimum frame for the solving of problems in
Southeast Europe and that a possible creation of subregions would
only make the situation worse, deputy speaker of the Croatian
national parliament Zdravko Tomac said in Zagreb Monday, after
talks with president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Adrian
Severin.
According to Tomac, Severin is to tackle this issue during his
Tuesday's introductory speech at the Stability Pact Summit, which
is being held in Zagreb.
Tomac and Severin told reporters they have exchanged opinions on
open issues in the region, including the situation in the Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia, as well as developments in Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
Tomac said that Zagreb's summit was a significant meeting which
should give a new impetus to the solving of problems in entirety in
Southeast Europe.
Severin said, he and Tomac did not discuss general, but specific
problems, particularly those regarding the security in Southeast
Europe, which is closely connected to the stability of all
Europeans.
We are looking forward to future cooperation in the promotion of the
role of parliaments in Southeast Europe, which, I will reiterate,
is of the entire Europe's concern.
The conference of the heads of parliaments of the Stability Pact
member-states commenced on Monday with an informal session of the
working group in charge of the elaboration of a final document.
