OSIJEK OSIJEK, Sept 4 (Hina) - The eastern Croatian city of Osijek is hosting the 33rd conference of an international organisation in charge of the protection of the Danube River. The event, prepared by the Osijek College of Education
and the Croatian Ecological Society, has drawn scientists and scholars from 12 countries in the Danube basin. Since its establishment in 1965, the AID has organised such conferences every year in one of those countries. This is the first time for Croatia to host the conference. The purpose of this event is to stir up interest in the protection of waters and in the improvement of living conditions in all countries in the Danube basin, said Janja Horvatic, a Croatian representative to the IAD, opening the Osijek meeting.
