HR-TOURISTS-Politika BRIEF NEWS BULLETIN IN ENGLISH NO. 3722 HINA ZAGREB, AUG 16 MORE THAN HALF A MILLION TOURISTS VACATIONING ALONG CROATIAN COASTZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - More than half a million tourists are vacationing along Croatia's Adriatic coastline at the peak of this year's summer season, which is 41 percent more than at the same time last year and 19 percent more than in 1998, the best post-war year. Currently, 467,089 foreigners are spending holidays in Croatia, which is 53.6 percent more than last year. According to data from tourist boards of Croatia's seven counties on the Adriatic Sea, the Istrian peninsula in the north has been chosen as the summer destination of the highest number of tourists, 196,992, or 33 percent more than last year. Primorje-Gorski Kotar County's Tourist Board has reported 137,452 tourists vacationing in this county along the northern Adriatic, an increase of 39 percent in comparison to 1999.
