BELGRADE, Aug 6 (Hina) - Zagreb Archbishop and president of the
Croatian Bishops' Conference Josip Bozanic on Sunday held talks
with the head of the Serb Orthodox Church in Belgrade, Patriarch
Pavle.
After 40-minute talks, Pavle said he had spoken with Bozanic and
other members of the Catholic Church as a man of Evangelistic faith,
faith in Jesus Christ, in the Holy Trinity -- the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit.
"We have taken on the evangelistic principle we hold mutual: do onto
others what you want to be done onto you. If this principle would be
used more in the world, a lot less suffering would have to be
endured, we would not need as many prisons, hospitals and other
troubles," he said.
Greeting Bozanic and members of the Croatian Bishops Conference,
Patriarch Pavle wished all the faithful of the two churches
justice, truth, peace and love.
"I am especially glad to have met his holiness Pavle today,"
Monsignor Bozanic said.
"We had an opportunity to speak with representatives of the Serb
Orthodox Church and members of our episcopate about our two
churches, about everything we are facing in the dawn of the third
millennium. The faithful living together in this region expect our
joint word," Bozanic said.
We must find agreement on many things so we could help the faithful
in life, he added.
Also, he asserted, we feel that in the name of the Gospel we must
express ourselves in the public often because we have joint stances
and ideals, so it is necessary for our public to hear this.
Bozanic added he hoped for further meetings and joint tasks.
