UNION: STYRIA'S GIVING UP INVESTMENT SHOULD NOT AFFECT EMPLOYEES

ZAGREB, July 31 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Union of Journalists, Jasmina Popovic, told Hina on Monday she did not expect the decision of the Austrian media concern Styria to give up its investment into 'Vecernji List' daily would have a negative effect on the daily's employees. "The economising mentioned in the statement by the president of the Vecernji List Supervisory Board, Marijan Kostrencic, will certainly not happen overnight and I expect that no measures aimed at economising which would refer to employees would be taken without talks with the union," said Popovic, who works for the daily. "We have been assured by the management that in case Styria gives up its investment or the privatisation procedure is annulled, it has prepared solutions," Popovic said.(hina) rml
